The earrings have niobium ear wires, which is a hypoallergenic metal. Even people who have severe reactions to metal report that they are able to wear niobium.

The copper wire used in these earrings is natural and not treated with lacquer or wax. Copper naturally oxides over time and develops a patina. Some people love that look and some prefer to keep it shiny, a simple polishing cloth will work well if you choose to keep it shiny.
