The lights are named after Aurora, the Roman goddess of the dawn. The word borealis means “northern.” The aurora borealis is a kind of aurora, a natural light display that occurs in the skies close to Earth's north and south poles. The process that results in an aurora starts at the sun.
The Northern Lights can signify the unknown, and everything about the universe that is beyond human comprehension. It reminds us of how vast the universe is, and the beauty that it holds.
