Award: 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Competition Gold Key Award
One of the most influential industries in Alaska is commercial salmon fishing. I was out boating, and I was in awe of the large boats scooping up the fish to process them. The stark juxtaposition between industrialized technology and nature in the background sets a tone of harmony in this painting. Alaska fisheries are one of the most well managed in the world, and it shows through the years of consistent fishing.

Born and raised in Juneau amidst glaciers and old growth forests, Alain has been inspired by the natural beauty of Southeast Alaska. From an early age, light and reflections of the rainforest caught his eye and have continued to be recurring elements in his art. Already an award-winning artist, Alain aspires to share his unique view of Alaska with you through his paintings.
