Description
Enjoy this hand made fossilized walrus ivory pendant with silver bail.
Fossil walrus ivory is obtained from Native-owned St. Lawrence Island, a non-archaeological site. This site is found by the Yupik Natives. Sale of this material is a vital component to their continued survival. The age of the ivory is estimated to be 500-100,000 years old. Fossil ivory has color variations, which come from mineral contact while buried in the frozen tundra.
To care for your ivory, avoid extreme heat and cold and buff with a soft cloth.
