*Wild Blueberry (Vaccinium sp.)
Wild Blueberries were traditionally an important food source for many Native American people. Today, this popular tart-sweet fruit is eaten fresh or used in pies, pastries, and jams. This perennial's flowers are ivory white and its berries are brilliant hues of purple. A dwarf shrub. (5-30")

Alaska's State Flower...the tiny blue flowers of Forget-Me-Nots are an unforgettable symbol of Spring. These heavenly blue flowers emit a beautiful sweet fragrance. Legend has it that a suitor was tragically lost in a raging current as he tried to pick this flower for his love. His last words to her "Forget me not." (annual or biennial, 12-24" tall)

*Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium)
One of the most attractive plants of the North, it is the territorial flower of the Yukon. This graceful pinkish-red perennial typifies Alaska's diverse natural riches. Found abundantly in meadows and woodlands throughout most of Alaska. Flowers from July to September. Its common name is derived from its ability to revegitate quickly after a fire (18-36" tall)

*Blue columbine (Aquilegia sp.)
Amid the moist alpine meadows of Alaska dwells one of the rarest of American wildflowers, the graceful Wild Columbine. It was Latin-named "Columba", or dove, for its resemblance to the bird of peace. Wrote poet, R.H. Barham, "Flowers such as Eden never knew." (8-24")
