The ulu is a traditional knife used by Alaskan Eskimos for the last 4,000 years! Originally, the blades were made of jade, slate or bone. This fine stainless steel blade should be treated as any other fine cutlery and washed by hand with warm soapy water and dried promptly.
This ulu is made from the natural bone that grows on the head of a caribou. Caribou shed their antler each fall to prepare for the coming winter and grow new, larger, antlers every spring.
Bob Merry, well-known Alaskan artist, collects shed antler to use in the making of these beautiful ulus, a true gift of Alaska.
5 1/2'' wide blade; comes with stand.
